Family Care Home Tuovinen
Family Care Home Tuovinen is located in Finnish Lapland, in the village of Lokka, Sodankylä. Established in 2014, our family home offers older people short-term respite care stays of approximately one or two weeks while their family carers take a break.
The family home can accommodate 3 older people at the same time, each of whom has their own room during their stay. Round-the-clock care and support are provided for older people.
The family care home provides round-the-clock care and support, but it is not enhanced supported living. Contact us—we will be happy to tell you more about our services and who they are suitable for.

Family Care Home Tuovinen
Safety
The family care home has been equipped with safety in mind: the necessary grab rails and other aids, as well as fire-safety equipment, have been installed throughout the premises. A member of the family care home staff has completed fire-safety training.
A homely and stimulating environment
At Family Care Home Tuovinen, we offer holiday guests a homely, safe and stimulating environment surrounded by nature. Our facilities include, for example, a wood-heated sauna and an extensive library.
Home-help services from an experienced practical nurse
Tiemanner Oy
The family care home’s services and home-help work are provided by Sirpa Oksanen, a long-standing entrepreneur with Tiemanner Oy. Sirpa is a practical nurse originally specialised in mental health and substance abuse work, and the longest-serving family carer for older people in Lapland. She also works as an experience educator for the Finnish Association for Family Care.
The family care home operates in the old post office premises in Lokka, Sodankylä, in the Tuovinen house, which the Oksanen couple bought after falling forever in love with Lapland’s enchanting wilderness.
